Well, 2016 is officially over and what a year that was! Kicking off with Adam Hess in January and featuring Daphne, Mae Martin and lots of other top acts, it was a great year for the Howler. We’re hoping this year will be even better, and we’re pleased to say that we’re back for 2017 – albeit with a few changes: We’ve got two amazing new comperes joining us in the shape of Pierre Novellie and Ahir Shah! Both are ex-Cambridge students who have gone on to be award-winning commedians in their own right, so we’re really lucky to be working with them going forwards. More details below, but for now, on with the show!

EVERYONE is welcome, not just Cambridge Students.

PIERRE NOVELLIE

50% of our new compere team, Pierre is no stranger to the Howler stage, having performed here at the end of 2014 with Ahir Shah and Liam Williams. Nominated for best newcomer in the 2014 Chortle Awards, a finalist in the 2012 Chortle Student Comedy Award and won the 2013 Amused Moose Laugh-Off as well as being nominee at 2016 Chortle Awards for best club comedian, Pierre has fallen into his stride as one of the country’s top up and coming comedians. His delivery is casual, but his comedy is intelligent and thoughtful. We know you’re going to love him!

“The dawn of a major talent” – The Guardian
Wry, confident, well crafted, hilarious” – The Sunday Times

WITH SUPPORT FROM

*** SAMEER KAHN ***

Sameer has performed with Footlights, at the Edinburgh Fringe, and clubs across London. When he first came to the Howler in 2015 we were blown away. An American living in Cambridge, Sameer provides a hilarious take on the British, race, society and little things you never noticed.

*** CARINE VALARCHÉ ***

Wading her way through college Smokers and theatrical productions, we’re really looking forward to Carine’s debut at the Howler. With an extremely likeable stage presence and the timing of a professional we’re sure this is the start of a bright career in comedy.

“More Valarche would certainly be appreciated on the comedy scene” – The Tab.

*** CALLUM CHURCH ***

Callum performed last year alongside Daphne with a selection of funny poems, like Tim Key but not as brief. This time around he promises us some ‘serious’ comedy! Not sure what that means but I think we’re in for a treat!

*** NATHAN SMITH ***

Nathan, who performs regularly in London and who you may well have caught at Smokers in the past, has returned to Cambridge for his PhD and has brought his unique brand of comedic poetry along with him. Providing a refreshing change from regular stand up, he brings together spoken word with jokes about science and literature.

Please ‘like’ the Howler page if you haven’t already so that you receive our updates, and tell your friends! The more the merrier!

Also, if you’re new to Cambridge (or even if you’re not) and into performing comedy – get in touch! We’re always on the look out for great new talent to take to the Wolfson stage.

See you there,

The Howler Team x
